A Valentine's Day They'll Never Forget

Red Roses

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on your relationship milestones and commitment to stay together. If you’ve been together for 10 years, think about all that you’ve been through and all of the moments you’ve shared together. If you’re in a newer relationship, think about the first time you met, or the first time you realized you wanted to stop seeing other people and only see your significant other. You may want to impress them and make getting around town easy by hopping into a limo and visiting some of the places that mean the most to you (where you met, first date, etc.). For a general guide, here are some fun suggestions on what to do and how to make your Valentine’s Day special.

Good Morning, Beautiful

There’s nothing quite like being woken up by the scent of fresh flowers. Rouse them with red roses or their personal favorite. Don’t know what they want? Ask the florist to suggest a special Valentine’s bouquet for your significant other. Pro tip: Be sure to order your flowers in advance and try to pick them up the day before Valentine’s Day since many other couples will be using beautiful blossoms to surprise their honey too.

Shall We Eat?

Aside from flowers, the best way to begin your day is with a lovely meal together to talk about all of the adventures you’ve been on and ruminate on the good times. It’s ideal to make reservations in advance since some places fill up quickly, but if you have to wait 15 or 20 minutes for a table, at least you’ll be waiting together. A lot of restaurants offer a Valentine’s Day Brunch, complete with endless champagne or mimosas and, depending on where you go, a prix fixe meal. Either way, be sure to pick somewhere that you’ll both genuinely enjoy and is meaningful to both of you, even if it’s the run down diner down the street where you first shyly exchanged “I love you."

Valentine's Day Hearts

Sweeten Up the Day

Treat your sweetie to some decadent squares of chocolate. Head to The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club to see 20 different top chefs compete in a chocolate competition and blissfully devour their creations. A 15 year old tradition for both couples in love and singles looking for love – and an accidental matchmaking event (four couples have met and married since its opening) – what better way to spend your Valentine’s Day than with your love and your love of chocolate?

Blinded by Love

Looking for a more unique celebration than a simple dinner and dessert? Well, you can’t exactly look with dinner in the dark, but you’ve definitely found a fun way to celebrate and have a new experience. At dinner in the dark, diners wear blindfolds throughout the course of the meal and have to guess which food and wine is on their plate at the end of the dining experience (dietary restrictions can be accommodated). There’s something exhilarating about having one of your senses taken away while relying on another. It’s surely an evening that you’ll remember and one you and your date will laugh about when you’re whisked home in your limo.

Upon your return home, make sure you have a trinket or gift prepared to truly surprise them. What’s in the box depends on your significant other. Some women prefer anything from jewelry to a scrapbook of your memories, and some men prefer a practical gift like a toolbox or a nice everyday watch. You know them best, and the best part of your gift will be how much thought you’ve put into it, much like how much time and planning you put into the entire day to make it unforgettable. At the end of the day, no matter what happens, you’ll still have the person whom you love or are falling in love with, and that’s the best gift of all.
