Wineries and the Hamptons

WineGrapesBackyardVineyardWEB

Wineries and the Hamptons have a longtime love affair, especially during the summer. That’s hardly a secret to New Yorkers who flock to the Hamptons for a quick trip to escape the city. But where are the best places to enjoy a pristine Pinot or Merlot? Here are some of the most highly recommended vineyards in the Hamptons:

Wölffer Estate

With 55 acres of vines, Wölffer Estate has a plentiful assortment of wines. The vineyard is also one of the few winemakers who are certifiably sustainable. They use traditional techniques using estate-grown or locally-sourced fruit. Their tasting room features high ceilings and opens to the stone terrace that hosts tasting flights (except during live music). It’s open every day year-round and tours around the vineyard are also available.

Lieb Cellars

Founded in 1992, this 85-acre sustainably farmed vineyard is located 80 miles east of New York. Hidden on one of the most rural roads in North Fork, Lieb Cellars has expanded their collection to include lighter, fruitier wines and have pioneered alternative wine formats in New York, including 3L boxes and 20L disposable kegs. They also host private tastings (for up to 12 guests), which is held in their private library room.

Macari Vineyards in the Hamptons

Macari Vineyards

Owned by the Macari family, this vineyard is a 500-acre waterfront estate and has operated for over 50 years. The family transformed a 200 acre potato field into a vine garden with additional fields of compost and fallow farmland. Macari vineyards is also home to many animals, including horses, ducks, and rabbits. The family farm provides a great grape growing environment that yields some of the most delicious wines on the East coast.

Martha Clara Vineyards
Robert Entenman purchased a potato farm and transformed it into a horse farm on North Fork. Robert noticed that most of the potato fields were being turned into vineyards around him and realized the potential of Long Island’s soil to grow the best grapes in the world to cultivate the finest wines. Their vineyard barn is suitable for up to 200 guests and has a beautiful space for both ceremonies and cocktail hours.

Raphael's Winery, Northfork Hamptons

Take advantage of the sunshine and relax with a wine tasting in the Hamptons. Want to treat yourself to a lavish weekend? Book a limo and enjoy the scenery en route to the vineyard without having to worry about traffic.
