New York Film Festival

The New York Film Festival is a 17-day extravaganza highlighting the best in world cinema from September 30th through October 16th. The festival features both celebrated filmmakers and brand new talent in cinematic works, and their films are showcased around the city. This year, people are most excited about Personal Shopper, directed by Olivier Assayas and starring Kristen Stewart, who portrays a fashion assistant whose twin brother has died, leaving her craving messages from the other side.

 

New York City Wine & Food Festival

The New York City Wine & Food Festival is a four-day benefit to end hunger, and showcases the world’s most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs, and culinary personalities. With more than 100 events, the festival is considered the largest food and wine festival in New York City. This year’s festival is sure to educate and entertain attendees and once again bring together foodies and wine aficionados from all over the world.

The High Line partners with the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York every Tuesday through October to bring high-powered telescopes to see rare celestial sights. The star gazing takes place at dusk and is free to participants. The High Line itself has gorgeous views of the city and the Hudson River. Of course, you’re also always welcome to walk The High Line anytime during the fall from 7am – 11pm.

The 43rd annual parade on October 31st begins at 7pm and is committed to inspiring the imagination of New Yorkers and allows participants to express themselves artistically. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk among thousands of different people in an array of costumes, displaying the uniqueness and creative minds within New York City. The parade is known for having participants that hand create their costumes and take great pride in acting like their characters.

Since 1924, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade has hosted an annual, three-hour pageant full of giant balloons, floats, cheerleaders, marching bands, and good cheer. Of course you can watch the procession on NBC in your PJs at home, but it’s much more fun to watch the party in person. The parade also features live music and performances by amazing entertainers like The Rockettes.
