Best Places to Talk About Business in NYC

New York is notoriously crowded and it’s often difficult to find a quiet spot to meet and discuss business matters without a variety of distractions. However, there are some hidden gems scattered throughout the city where you can find great food or coffee to fuel your professional conversations. Here is a list of six places where you can feel free to spread out your Excel spreadsheets and even hear your own thoughts within the vicinity.

Le_Pain_Quotidien

Le Pain Quotidien – $$, Free WiFi

This bakery-restaurant doesn’t feel like an international chain even though it is. Its rustic communal tables and friendly wait staff offer a cozy, neighborly vibe. Though it’s more of a casual place to dine, it’s a wonderful place to meet clients since there’s plenty of room to spread out your laptops and papers, and it’s still quiet enough to discuss business matters. The iced coffee is delicious and there are tons of excellent soup and salad combinations, like the butternut squash soup and warm quinoa bowl.

The Capital Grille - $$$, Free WiFi

Situated in the Chrysler Building, this restaurant is an ideal place to meet clients or host a business meeting. If you want to sit down and have a spectacular meal, this is a perfect pick. The servers are well-versed regarding the menu and often ensure intricacies – such as a steak’s tenderness – are absolutely perfected before it reaches your plate. Some menu highlights include the truffle fries, lobster mac and cheese, and crème brûlée.

Ace Hotel NYC

Ace Hotel New York – $$$, Free WiFi

This large atrium situated within the hotel allows for quick meetings. The connected Stumptown Coffee allows for a quick coffee sit-down and the bar in the lobby makes it easy to meet for drinks. If you’re meeting for a longer conversation, head over to The Breslin, the hotel’s restaurant, which has a retro vibe and charming décor. Depending on the time, the space can be either pin-drop quiet or bustling with activity and excitement. Either way, it’s a great spot to meet in the city and the food – like their popular lamb burger served with thrice-fried chips and cumin mayo – never disappoints.

The NoMad Hotel – $$$, WiFi for Hotel Guests

The NoMad Hotel has a plethora of meeting places. Whether you want to be seated at The Atrium, a sunlit space with a pyramidal glass roof or the Parlous, a stately room with dark oak furnishings and an elegant area to dine, there’s plenty to choose from here. The NoMad bar is also an excellent option for a quick drink and some finger foods, such as vegetable crudité and carrot tartare. For lunch meetings, try the slow-cooked cod with cauliflower or bay scallops marinated with yuzu and pistachios.

Gramercy_Tavern

Gramercy Tavern – $$$$, No WiFi

Danny Meyer’s Michelin star restaurant is divided up in two parts: an a la carte menu at the rustic front of the restaurant or a more formal prix-fixed menu in the back dining room. These options allow business professions to either choose a quick meeting (front of house) or have a longer conversation (back of house). Either choice is rewarded with divine dishes such as sweet corn agnolotti, marinated scallops with heirloom beans and grapes, and carrot ice cream atop carrot cake.
