FDR Drive at 42nd Street
With barges stationed along the East River from 24th to 41st streets, posting up on the FDR drive at 42nd street will give you a perfect view of the entire spectacle. Designated as one of the official viewing spots for the show, we recommend getting here early to secure a good space. Grab a place here parallel to the barges, but be sure to pack some ear plugs as it could get loud.

WNYC Transmitter Park
If trekking out of the outer boroughs on a long weekend seems like a daunting task, Brooklyn’s WNYC Transmitter Park is a perfect choice for taking in the fireworks. Located in the northern-Brooklyn neighborhood of Greenpoint, this park gives you a better vantage point than the plethora of waterfront parks in Williamsburg. After the show, we recommend taking a stroll around Greenpoint and doing one of the most patriotic things possible – grabbing some ice cream for the road at Van Leeuwen on Manhattan Ave!

Gantry Plaza State Park
For Queens residents, Long Island City is the neighborhood to head to for the best views of the waterfront. Gantry Plaza State Park in particular is a great choice for fireworks – it’s less crowded than its neighboring Hunter’s Point South Park, but still in perfect sight of the barges. In the 12-acre park, you’ll be hard pressed to find a spot where you couldn’t see any of the show!

John V. Lindsay East River Park
Another Manhattan viewing spot directly on the East River, the John V. Lindsay East River Park is perfect for those who want to be close to the action but not quite in the heart of it. The waterfront park is also designated as an official viewing spot for the festivities. This viewing spot is perfect for Downtown residents who don’t want to travel far for good views.

Liberty State Park
For those in New Jersey, Liberty State Park in Jersey City is one of the best choices for fireworks viewings. While a bit further out, Liberty State Park is a quick ferry ride from Manhattan and sits directly in view of the Statue of Liberty, as well as a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline. Jersey City puts on a daylong Freedom and Fireworks festival that includes carnival rides, food trucks, a beer garden and live music.
