Holiday shopping can either be disastrous or leisurely depending on how you plan out your day. As we edge closer to the holidays, it’s important to maximize your time and get as much done as possible while avoiding the crowds. Here’s a sample day of how to check everything off of your list:
10am – Bergdorf Goodman 754 5th Avenue
Begin at Bergdorf’s to find everything you need in one place. From women’s designer shoes to men’s cufflinks, this store houses a variety of contemporary couture and ready-to-wear ensembles. Plus, their employees are readily available to help you find anything on your shopping list.
12pm – The Columbus Circle Holiday Market Central Park
Located in Central Park, the Columbus Circle Holiday market is a quaint place to buy unique gifts from local artists. You’ll be able to purchase items like handmade jewelry, adorable toys, warm knitwear, and much more. There are also local food vendors interspersed throughout the market, so you can grab a cup of steamed apple cider or small bite to eat if you’re hungry.
1:30pm – Lunch Break at Nice Matin 201 West 79th Street
Take a break from all of the perusing and escape into Nice Matin. This lovely French restaurant has delicious dishes like foie gras, short ribs, beet and chevre salad, and heaps of rosemary-flecked fries. The desserts are delightful, such as their chocolate gateau and fig bread pudding, and the coffee that they serve is the right kind of strong.
2:30pm – Moleskine Store 10 Columbus Circle
The purveyor of the famous notebooks that were used by Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Ernest Hemingway has a space in the Shops at Columbus Circle. The space is small, but holds a variety of the brands’ many stationary items. It’s a great place to buy for the difficult people on your list (everyone can use a notebook) or simply for the writers and thought-leaders in your inner circle.
3:30pm – MoMA Design Store 11 West 53rd Street
The MoMA design store has beautiful gift items from coasters shaped like toast to state-of-the-art speakers in sleek, modern designs. The shop also showcases beautiful art books and stunning jewelry. Each item is carefully picked and the layout of the store is curated as intricately as the eponymous museum.
4:30pm – Dylan’s Candy Store 1011 3rd Avenue and 33 Union Square West
This modern candy store has fun, whimsical décor and Willy Wonka-esque pop art installations, like an oversized lollipop tree, candy cane columns, kaleidoscope candy wallpaper, and more. This is an excellent shop to purchase all of your stocking stuffers or to buy treats to satisfy those with a sweet tooth on your list. Try classics like the whirly pop or go festive with a gingerbread house making kit or candy cane.
5:30pm – Head home!
After a long day of shopping and getting trinkets for other people, head home and kick up your feet and relax. Or, if you’re really ambitious, you can begin wrapping all of these gifts so they’re ready to put under the tree.
